Mosquitoes are known to transmit diseases.  In Massachusetts, mosquito-borne diseases include illnesses caused by the West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).  Since 2014, cases of chikungunya have been reported in Massachusetts in patients who had traveled to affected areas in tropical regions.
